Grading Scale
| |
Your final semester grades will come from these four areas:
(no weighting- percentages are approximations based on possible points)
Exams: 50%
Discussion: 20%
Notebook: 20%
Projects: 10%
The weight of the grade may not seem proportionally split. The heavy emphasis on test grades is an effort to prepare you for the grading systems used in most colleges and the type of assessment you will likely receive in your career. The remaining grades will be awarded for your work and participation to give you the incentive that many high schoolers need to study and learn.
Grades are posted approximately every two weeks, or as appropriate to changes in class grades. Please see me regarding any discrepancies with your grade OUTSIDE OF CLASS TIME. Class time is for learning. Make an appointment for arguing.
Grades are calculated by dividing the points you earn by the total number of points possible. Percentages break down as follows:
A+ 100%
A 99%-91%
A- 90%
B+ 89%
B 88-81%
B- 80%
C+ 79%
C 78%-71%
C- 70%
D+ 69%
D 68%-61%
D- 60%
F 59% and below
